Regarding disqualifications...

I just wanted to let people know that I've made a decision regarding calls for disqualification. We've already had a handful more for songs in Semi 1, but since all of them fall into a bit of a grey zone, I've decided they can stay.

However, as some sponsors may feel this is unfair, I have also decided to reveal the names of the entries about which doubts have been raised due to a potential Eurovision connection. This way those voting can make up their own mind whether or not to give any points to them.

The songs flagged up as potentially breaking the rules in the 1st semi-final (so far!) are:

09 Spain 1989 – Mujer Contra Mujer (Mecano)

12 Greece 2001 – Diaspora (Omega Vibes)

18 UK 2004 – Can't Say Goodbye (Pop!)

Remember that 04 Turkey 2001 – Private Emotion (Ricky Martin) has already been disqualified for being a cover version.

From here on in I will still be happy to deal with any claims that songs are breaking the rules, but only if they do so in a very obvious way - either by being a cover version or the credited song or singer having been in a national final - will they be disqualified. If, like the ones above, the circumstances surrounding them are vague or borderline, I will highlight them in the same way and leave it up to voters to decide whether they will boycott them or not.

If you would like to amend your votes in the light of these 'warnings', you are free to do so at any time prior to the deadline.

Otherwise, as ever, enjoy the songs and have fun voting!
