Semi 1

Welcome to the 1st semi-final of ETNW 2012!

Below you will find a list of the entries in this semi and a link to the multi-upload-download-whatever site that Anthi used in BOTY :) If anyone has any problems downloading the .zip file, the songs should also go up on Noah's site in due course. (Thanks both of you for your tips and help!)

If your entry isn't in this semi, it'll be in the other one - so no need for me to inform you, right? ;) If anyone has any grievances, please contact me directly at the email address you submitted your entries to instead of (or at least before) raising them on the MB.

Voting

1. If your entry is in this semi, you must vote. If you don't, your entry will be disqualified, regardless of whether it would have qualified or not.

2. Voting is also open to sponsors whose entries are in the other semi and non-participants.

3. Voting is in Eurovision style: 1-8, 10 & 12 points. And you can't vote for your own entry, obviously.

4. The email address to send your votes to is the same as the one you submitted your entry to: etnw2012@gmail.com.

5. The deadline for voting in Semi 1 is next Sunday 22 January.

6. Remember that you are not simply voting for your favourite entries: your main criteria should still be how authentic you feel the entries are (i.e. how good a match they are for the year + country combination). For example, if you listen to one song and think "yep, that sounds exactly like what a Swiss entry in 1978 would have been like" and then another and think "I like that more than the Switzerland 1978 entry, but it's not as good a match", Switzerland 1978 - or whatever it is - should still get higher points. Then again, you might find 10 entries that you think are all good matches, in which case it then more or less comes down to taste ;)

The top 11 entries from each semi will qualify for the final, plus the highest-scoring 12th placed song, to make a final - just like the semis - of 23 songs. I like my symmetry, me!
